The sweltering deserts of present day Nevada were once covered with water and home to an extinct crocodile relative. A team of scientists found this newly discovered species in the Triassic Era Favret Formation of Nevada that changes the story of life along both coasts of the United States when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The new species is named Benggwigwishingasuchus eremicarminis or “Fisherman Croc’s Desert Song,” and is derived in a study published July 10 in the journal Biology Letters.

Stone circles unearthed in Norway mark ancient children’s graves
A series of intricate stone circles uncovered by archeologists in southern Norway turned out to be the graves of several young children from the Bronze and Iron ages. This unique burial site contains stone circles about six feet across. Great care and consideration appears to have been taken, since the stones were neatly placed together and buried just a few inches below the ground. Several of the circles were positioned around a bigger stone at the center and additional research found burned bones and pottery shards underneath these stones.
