A 35-year-old Port Arthur man was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury this week on weapons charges.

Just after 11:30 p.m. April 25 a Beaumont police officer stopped a vehicle for an expired registration in the 3400 block of Eastex Freeway.

At that time Ramone L. Comeaux told the officer he had a firearm on his person, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The officer reportedly found and removed a Block G45 and upon checking the firearm learned it was reported stolen out of Port Arthur.

A check on Comeaux showed he had a felony conviction in Contra Costa County, California in August 2012.

Due to Comeaux being in possession of a stolen firearm and having a felony conviction, he was placed under arrest for theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He is no longer listed in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility as an inmate.

Comeaux was indicted on the two felony charges.
