PORT BARRE, La. ( KLFY ) — A Port Barre man is facing numerous charges after authorities say they found cocaine, methamphetamine, guns and potted marijuana plants when they searched his home Monday morning.
James M. Joseph, 46, of Port Barre, was charged with distribution of marijuana and methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, manufacturing marijuana, among other charges.
Port Barre Police Chief Deon R. Boudreaux said in a news release Monday that investigators monitored Joseph’s home after receiving a tip several months ago that narcotics were allegedly being sold from his home on Boggs Street.
Police used a warrant to search Joseph’s home Monday morning, according to the chief, which resulted in the seizure of four pistols, an armored vest, drug paraphernalia, 13 grams of cocaine, 106 grams of marijuana, potted marijuana plants and more.

“Although the amount of illegal narcotics found today may not have been a large amount, it is still a significant and important drug bust,” Boudreaux said. “Considering the amount of traffic going to and from that house recently, he probably had a lot more narcotics there before we were able to execute the warrant.”
Boudreaux said Joseph’s arrest sends a message that dealing drugs in the community will not be tolerated.
