Midsummer Music: What’s Happening in Classic Arts This Week
Even in the middle of summer, the classic arts scene in New York is never quiet. Here is just a sampling of some of the classic arts events happening this week. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s series of Summer Evening concerts continues this week with concerts July 23 and 27. The July 23 concert will feature pianist Orion Weiss, violinists Lun Li and Danbi Um, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist Sterling Elliott, and clarinetist Ricardo Morales, playing a program including works by Mozart, Richard Strauss, Robert Schumann, Ernő Dohnányi. The July 27 concert will feature violinists Sean Lee and Cho-Liang Lin, violists Aaron Boyd and James Thompson, cellist Nicholas Canellakis, and flautist Tara Helen O’Connor, playing a program of works by Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart, and Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst.

Officials seize $10M worth of illegal drugs in the Bronx, say it's biggest bust of new campaign
Around $10 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from an operation in Mott Haven, the Bronx Sunday, according to law enforcement officials. Roughly 1,300 pounds of cannabis and 200 pounds of mushrooms were among the items seized in the sheriff-led bust. NYC Sheriff Anthony Miranda said it’s the biggest bust since the start of “Operation Padlock to Protect,” a citywide campaign.

Excavation is underway for The Moon 27, a nine-story mixed-use building at 42-38 27th Street in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Michael Kang Architect and developed by Hang Dong Zhang, the 50,706-square-foot structure will yield 56 residential units with an average scope of 685 square feet, as well as 12,334 square feet of commercial space, a cellar level, and a 30-foot-long rear yard.
