‘Barbie’ watch party at Sequim Library location. The North Olympic Library System (NOLS) will host a movie screening of “Barbie” (2023) at libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks. Adults and teens are welcome to attend the Barbie Watch Party and enjoy free pizza, popcorn and drinks. Attendees are encouraged to dress in pink or as their favorite Barbie, sing along with the film and pose in a life-size Barbie box for a photo op.
Port Angeles-to-Sequim highway chase ends with no injuries
Local law enforcement were able to arrest and take a man into custody Wednesday afternoon following a high speed chase on U.S. Highway 101 from Port Angeles to Sequim. Jason Viada, Port Angeles Police Department deputy chief, said police officers responded to a call about an individual “behaving erratically” outside a bank in the 1600 block of First Street in Port Angeles.

Milestone: Christmas in June at the Equator

Two Sequim residents recently did just that in Quito, Ecuador, a mountain city at 9,500 feet surrounded by a ring of volcanoes. If you’re looking for lavender, Sequim remains the place to go — after nearly 30 years of embracing the purple, pink and white plant. Sequim’s first lavender event, the Sequim Lavender Festival, now in its 28th year, started as a one-day event on Aug. 2, 1997. Since then, lavender as an attraction has grown exponentially to now feature the all-encompassing Sequim Lavender Weekend set this year for July 19-21, with more offerings available through the summer and year.
State commission weighs permanent closure of Cama Beach cabins
STANWOOD — Under a proposal before the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, 33 rentable cabins would be closed permanently at Cama Beach Historical State Park. The commission is considering the move because of the park’s native history, sea level rise and the cost of fixing septic issues, members said during a meeting held Monday in Stanwood.
Authorities seek help identifying partial skull found in Lynnwood park
LYNNWOOD — Months after a partial skull was discovered at a park in Lynnwood, authorities are asking for help to identify the remains. On March 24, a homeless man at Scriber Lake Park in Lynnwood discovered a “skeletonized cranium,” or the head and face of a skull, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. The mandible, or the lower jaw, was missing.
