    Visiting Port Huron for Boat Week? Check out these 5 places around the area

    With all the fun surrounding Boat Week, you should take some time to explore around Port Huron. Here's a quick list of things to check out.

    Love coffee and Edgar Allen Poe? Raven Café is the place for you

    The Raven Café offers a full espresso bar, eight rotating microbrews, soups, sandwiches, breakfast and more. Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe, the Raven is a hub for the arts, featuring artwork from local artists, hosting events and live entertainment.

    The Raven has seating on two stories, with the top floor also having balcony space.

    The Raven Café is located at 932 Military St. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

    Movies, dinner and an arcade: Sperry's has it all

    Sperry's is a multi-screen cinema set in the heart of downtown Port Huron. In addition to a luxury movie experience, complete with comfortable seating and optional in-theater dining, the building also has a restaurant and an arcade located in its basement.

    8th Street Eateries is Sperry's in-house restaurant. Check out its menu at www.8thstreeteateries.com.

    Sperry's is located at 301 Huron Ave. The movie theater is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; noon to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

    8th Street Eateries is open from 4 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday; 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and from 1 to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

    Climb the lighthouse at the Fort Gratiot Light Station

    A beautiful view of Lake Huron is 92 steps away with a tour of the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse. Climbs up the tower are included with a guided tour of the entire light station site, which includes other historic buildings. Guided tours cost $12 for adults, $10.50 for seniors and students and $30 for family admission which is for two adults and up to four children.

    Next to the light station is Lighthouse Park. Open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the summer, this park has bathrooms, a playground, bike pumps and more. A beach pass is required for entry and can be purchased at the parking booth.

    Beach passes are $5 for St. Clair County residents and $20 for out of county residents. It is free for residents of the city of Port Huron, Fort Gratiot and Port Huron Township.

    Fort Gratiot Light Station is located at 2802 Omar St. Admission into the light station is free. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily during the summer. Last entry for light house tours is at 4 p.m.

    Want a break from boats? Go to the St. Clair County 4-H Fair

    The St. Clair County 4-H Fair opened on Monday, but there are still multiple days of fun left to enjoy. The fair will go into Saturday.

    Every day of the fair, people can experience animal demonstrations, petting zoos, carnival rides and enjoy the various food and craft vendors scattered throughout the fairgrounds.

    Night entertainment changes throughout the fair. There will be a tractor and truck pull at 6 p.m. on Thursday; a Bump and Run at 7 p.m. and a draft horse pull at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and a Figure 8 and stock derby at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

    The carnival opens at 2 p.m. every day of the fair. Daily armbands are $25 and can be purchased onsite.

    Admission is $10 per person. Children 8-years-old or younger get in free. Goodells County Park is located at 8231 Lapeer Road in Wales Township.

    Learn more about Port Huron's history at the Carnegie Center

    The Carnegie Center is one of five historic sites with Port Huron Museums. This building used to be the site of the Port Huron Library and was turned into a center of arts and history for the area.

    The museum has some permanent exhibits that feature the maritime and general history of Port Huron.

    The museum's main gallery space houses rotating exhibits, with its current one featuring the history and legacy of Barbie. This exhibit will stay in the gallery until October, with the museum hosting Barbie-related programs and events during its duration.

    The Carnegie Center is located at 1115 Sixth St. Admission is free. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer.
