The Brass Rail in Port Huron is reportedly back on the market, but it’s not closing.

The iconic, decades-old downtown establishment posted on its Facebook page Monday that it was looking to sell the property, 410-412 Huron Ave. Its owners couldn’t be immediately reached as of Tuesday. However, the post emphasized they weren’t closing — just selling “due to medical issues.”

According to its posting through Kramer Commercial Realty, the Rail’s listing price is $670,000 as of late June and includes the sale of three parcels, the business, and the state liquor license.

The Brass Rail notably dates back to the 1930s with founding owner Helen David, growing to become a holiday staple for residents and visitors with their frothy Tom and Jerry drinks. After David died in the mid-2000s, the Rail came under ownership of her cousin, Maroun Abou-Ghanem before it shuttered following his death in 2021.

Couple Debbie Palazzolo and Walter Tweedle purchased the property for $480,000, according to the St. Clair County register of deeds, in November 2022. At the time, they said they aimed for it to be a family venture.

Soon after, they reintroduced the Tom and Jerry drink — the old features inside the Rail bar adorned with a mass of Christmas lights and decorations per tradition — while also hosting weekly activities, including “dirty bingo,” trivia, karaoke, and more.

The site at 410 Huron is a three-story building — the main level consisting of the beloved cocktail and bar area — with a second-story two-bedroom, one-bath apartment and new appliances and a third development-ready level.

Meanwhile, the 412 Huron piece includes a single-story, 2,100-square-foot commercial area.

More information wasn’t immediately available. Check back for updates.
