Bombers, Generals play for keeps starting tonight
The Brazos Valley Bombers and the Victoria Generals just played four games for pride, but now they’ll play for a chance to win another Texas Collegiate League championship. Their best-of-3 divisional series will open at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday at Edible Field. Game 2 will be at 7:05 p.m., Wednesday at Victoria’s Riverside Stadium. Game 3, if needed, would be on Thursday at Riverside Stadium. The Generals have the home-field advantage due to winning the first half of the Texas Division. The longtime rivals ended the regular season with two games at Edible Field and two more at Riverside Stadium. That ending looked enticing as the season started, but instead of a playoff spot or seeding at stake, the Generals (35-12) already had clinched the league’s best overall record and the Bombers (23-21) had pulled away from the Seguin River Monsters (12-33) to claim the division’s second playoff spot.
