Man shot while riding motorcycle in Ballard
Police are investigating a shooting in a Ballard neighborhood. Shortly after 2:00 a.m., 911 Dispatch (CARE) received reports of a shooting at 15th Avenue Northwest and Northwest 80th Street. Police arrived and found a 33-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower back area. Officers provided aid until Seattle Fire Department arrived. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Simon Property Group Breaks Ground on Northgate Station Project
Simon Property Group celebrated the groundbreaking of a mixed-use multifamily project at Seattle’s Northgate Station, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal. The 234-unit building is the latest phase of development on the former Northgate Mall site. The project calls for nearly 1,000 apartment units, two hotels, shopping, offices and more than an acre of green space. Northgate Station is also home to the Kraken Community Iceplex, existing retail and services, and a Sound Transit light rail station.
China Airlines Starts Nonstop Seattle-Taipei Flight
Seattle gained another nonstop flight to Taipei, Taiwan, today when China Airlines took off in the early morning hours. China Airlines’ flight marked the fifth new international service at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to launch in 2024. Earlier this year, Sea-Tac welcomed Delta Air Lines’ service to Taipei; Lufthansa’s service to Munich, Germany; Hainan Airlines’ service to Chongqing, China, and Taipei; and Alaska Airlines’ service to Toronto, Canada, according to a news release from the Port of Seattle, which operates the airport.

Cyclists make their way down North Pearl Street in Centralia during the 2024 Seattle to Portland Bike Ride on Saturday, July 13. The Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic presented by Alaska Airlines is a 206-mile ride through western Washington. This year, 6,000 riders took part in the ride, with many staying overnight at Centralia College, Recreation Park and other locations between the starting line in Seattle and the finish line in Portland.
