Established in 2002, the Foundation was created by James’ family and his three closest friends in memory of James, who passed away from esophageal cancer at the age of 28 on Christmas Eve 2001. The Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to assisting indigent cancer patients of all ages in the Rio Grande Valley. Its primary focus is to offer financial aid for cancer patients’ travel and lodging expenses when seeking treatment outside the Rio Grande Valley. This crucial support helps bridge the gap for patients who may not have the necessary resources to access treatment away from their local area.
