A longtime staple in the Port Neches community is undergoing an ownership change.

Mike’s Old Fashioned Soda Fountain on Port Neches Avenue is temporarily closing its doors while ownership is transferred.

Michael Lisotta, who served customers for 12 years as owner of the retro-themed ice cream shop, posted the news to his Facebook page.

“Hello everyone,” his statement reads. “I’m announcing the temporary closure of Mike’s Old Fashioned Soda Fountain during a transfer of new ownership. It’s been a wonderful 12 years!

“I thank everyone for their kindness and friendship! I would especially like to thank Mark, Teresa and Emily for making every day at work always fun and joyful. The new owners will be reopening soon! Thanks again for everything!”

There is no word yet on when the shop will reopen, or who the new owners will be.

The Port Arthur News did reach out to Lisotta. However, he respectfully declined our request for a comment.
