    Local filing for November election underway

    Filing is underway for seats in two Mid County cities and a school district.

    In the city of Groves, the Mayor’s seat, Ward No 2, Ward No. 4 and City Marshal’s are up for election.

    The seats are currently held by Mayor Chris Borne, Ward No. 2 Councilman Paul Oliver, and Ward No. 4 Councilwoman Rhonda Dugas.

    Borne said he intends to file for reelection.

    The city marshal’s seat was vacated with the retirement of Norman Reynolds Jr. at the beginning of the year. Sergeant Chris Robin was named interim city marshal upon Reynolds’s departure.

    Each of the seats up for election are two year terms.

    In the city of Port Neches, two seats are up for election. The mayor’s seat, held by Glenn Johnson and the Place 4 seat held by Robert Arnold.

    Johnson said he intends to file for reelection.

    For Port Neches-Groves Independent School District, there are three seats up for election: the Place 1 seat held by Dr. Scott Bartlett, Place 2 seat held by Dustin Marsh and Place 3 seat held by Eric Sullivan.

    Important dates

    Filing is open until Aug. 19.

    Early voting is from Oct. 21 to Nov. 1 and Election Day is Nov. 5.
