Driver who fled N.J. traffic stop killed in crash moments later, police say
A driver who fled a police traffic stop in Atlantic County early Monday was killed a short time later when his car struck a tree and he was ejected, authorities said. Local police pulled over the car shortly after 3 a.m. on Route 655 South in Franklin Township but during the stop, the driver drove off, according to New Jersey State Police.

Teenage girl dead after shooting inside West Philadelphia apartment
A teenage girl is dead after being shot inside an apartment on Monday morning in West Philadelphia.The shooting happened around 9 a.m. in the 5900 block of Chancellor Street.Investigators say a 17-year-old girl had been shot in the head and died at the scene.Police are still working to track down the shooter.There has been no word on a motive for the killing.RELATED: Check the 6abc Neighborhood Safety Tracker
Two Commercial Fires Under Investigation
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has concluded that two commercial building fires that occurred in New Castle County over the weekend were accidental in nature. The first fire broke out on Friday night, July 12, at approximately 7:15 PM at the Tri State Battery building, located at 107 Albe Drive in Newark, Delaware. Deputy Fire Marshals arrived on the scene and identified an electrical malfunction involving a lithium-ion battery as the cause. The malfunction led to the ignition of nearby combustibles, resulting in significant damage to the building. The building’s sprinkler system effectively contained the fire until the Fire Department arrived, preventing further spread. The estimated damage is valued at $75,000, and there were no reported injuries.
