Newark approves five rental townhouses for Corbit Street
Newark City Council last week gave a developer the go-ahead to build rental townhouses on Corbit Street. Developer Mico Slijepcevic is planning to demolish two rental houses at 50 and 54 Corbit Street that are nearly 100 years old and replace them with five three-story townhouses. Each unit will have four bedrooms. A parking lot in the back will have space for 15 cars. ...

Update: Severe thunderstorm warning previously issued will expire at midnight
The warning was for Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties. "The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with these thunderstorms. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1 a.m. for southern New Jersey," states the National Weather Service.

Dover Police Warns About Use of Gel-Blaster Guns
The Dover Police Department is putting out an alert about a recent uptick in calls regarding juveniles using Gel-Blaster guns, commonly referred to as Orbeez, including “drive-by” style incidents. If your child owns one of these Orbeez guns, Dover PD asks that you monitor their use and talk to them about the associated risks from improper use and as well use of these toys in public.

SMYRNA, Del.- Changes are on the horizon for Smyrna School District students this fall as a new policy will prohibit the use of cell phones during class time. Beginning in September, students across all grades will be required to place their phones, or any electronic devices, in designated areas while classes are in session.

Delaware Botanic Gardens’ 37 acres are in full peak summer bloom, and Butterflies & Blooms classes kick off at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at 30220 Piney Neck Road, Dagsboro.
