Town of Elkton holds grand opening for new Downtown Marketplace
ELKTON, Va. (WHSV)—Dozens attended the unveiling of Elkton’s new Downtown Marketplace Friday Evening. Many locals and project donors attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The project was over 30 years in the making in the historic area dubbed ‘Lawn Party Hill,’ but it wasn’t until 2021 that the old owners were willing to sell the land to the town. The town was recently awarded a $155,000 grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation for its Downtown Marketplace project.

Family gather in Staunton to give relatives proper burials
STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) - After decades of waiting to give their late relatives the funerals they wished for, one family decided to return to Staunton to fulfill that promise. The family gathered together at Fairview Cemetery to honor the lives of seven relatives who passed away years ago, by placing tombstones at their graves. Dry End to the Weekend with Daily Shower Chances This Week
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Weak high pressure continues to bring sunny and dry weather, and will move out Sunday night. Through this time we’ll continue to see mainly clear skies and lower dewpoints. As the high moves offshore, we’ll see winds becoming more southerly bringing an increase in moisture, while we also keep eyes on the west where a mid-level disturbance moves eastward. The mix will bring high dewpoints and a chance for an isolated shower/storm on Monday. Following that, an upper level low will settle over the region bringing daily shower chances. The other feature to watch is temperatures, we’ll see a return to the low and mid 90′s, with a chance for heat index values nearing 100. Check back for updates.

A team from Arlington and Alexandria has been named one of six from across Virginia selected by the Virginia Folklife Program as folklife apprentices for the coming year.
