Florida worker killed in freak drain pipe accident

A man working in a drainage pipe in Florida was killed on Monday after something shot him from the pipe, according to local investigators.

Port St. Lucie Police shared the tragedy in a press release but did not share what “pushed” the man from the pipe at around 11 a.m. on Monday.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male was performing maintenance in an underground drainage pipe when he was suddenly pushed out of the pipe from below ground, through the opened roadway grate, and came to rest on the roadway,” Port St. Lucie police said in the release.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries. Police did not share the nature of the man’s injuries either.

Investigators are calling what happened an “industrial accident” but have not shared who the man’s employer was either.

The investigation at this time remains ongoing.
