Law enforcement along the Treasure Coast are warning about a credit card pick-up scam.

Port St. Lucie Police say that eight victims lost a total of 67-thousand dollars since April in this scam that starts wit ha phone call.

A scammer, claiming to be with Wells Fargo, calls to say that your bank account has been compromised. The caller ID is manipulated to display the Wells Fargo phone number.

The crook then tells the victim that a representative will be visiting their home to collect the credit or debit card as part of a "recycle program" and claims that he will be deactivating the card while they're on the phone.

The scam is completed when someone arrives and seizes the card, and then it's used on unauthorized purchases.
