Several trees in DC's Garfield Park to come down after woman killed by falling tree limb
WASHINGTON (7News) — The six trees deemed dead after last week’s inspections at Garfield Park will be scheduled to come down, according to a spokesperson. Workers for DDOT's Urban Forestry Division inspected every tree in the park last Thursday, a day after a tree limb fell on a woman, killing her.
From diagnosis to cider domination: Lost Boy Cider's journey to sugar-free success
Lost Boy Cider owner and founder Tristan Wright joined Good Morning Washington Tuesday to spotlight his local sugar-free cider business. "Seven years ago, I got diagnosed with Celiac disease and so I started making cider in my kitchen," Wright said. "I went out to the west coast and enrolled in a cider production program at Portland State University and found myself up at Cornell in the viticulture center, learning how to actually make wine. Now, as a joke, we're in severe debt, known to cidery."

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – Climate change continues to exacerbate flooding impacts, including here in Fairfax County. Weather-related flooding is already the most common and costly natural disaster across the United States. Fairfax County continues its efforts to mitigate flooding problems for residents through the latest Floodplain Management Plan (FMP). The current plan, recently released by the DPWES Stormwater Management Program, provides an annual update on the implementation of flood mitigation actions and is a key requirement for the County’s participation in FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS).
