New Pittsburgh group offers community, friendship for Latinas
When Brenda Garcia attended the PA Latina Women Conference in Lancaster, PA, she had no idea it would inspire her to start her own group for Latina women. Now, a few short months later, LatinasPGH has almost a thousand followers on Instagram, and Garcia is busy planning events for women to meet, hangout, and get to know each other.
Pirates make their first move at the MLB trade deadline
The Pittsburgh Pirates kicked off their MLB trade deadline with a minor league trade by sending outfielder Gilberto Celestino to the Chicago Cubs for cash considerations. Celestino was acquired by the Pirates last offseason from the Minnesota Twins. He had a solid spring training, but was ultimately optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. He has spent the season playing all three outfield positions and has been a decent hitter at the plate.
Return for Diontae Johnson on ‘hot seat’ with training camp underway
Cornerback became a positional need for the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, as both Levi Wallace and Patrick Peterson left in free agency. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of Pittsburgh’s most productive offensive player, wide receiver Diontae Johnson. The Steelers sent Johnson and their No. 240 pick to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson and No. 178 pick (defensive lineman Logan Lee). Talented cornerback makes triumphant return to Steelers training camp
Perhaps the most exciting news to come out of Steelers training camp after the first day of practice was the sighting of Cory Trice practicing without a knee brace. This is a significant development as it indicates his full recovery from the ACL injury that sidelined him in 2023. His return comes at an opportune time, given the challenges the Steelers might have at the cornerback position early in the 2024 season.

Top swimmers compete in league championship
The Paris Olympics isn't the only event with swimming competition. The Youngstown Swim League held their championships Saturday at the Applewood Swim & Tennis Club.
