State Auditor Shad White announced today the arrest of Megan Berry, the former Treasurer of the Caledonia Park Commission (CPC). Mississippi inmate who killed his mother in 1994 denied compassionate release request
A Mississippi judge has denied a petition for the compassionate release for a man convicted of murdering his mother in 1994. The Vicksburg Post reports that Warren County Judge M. James Chaney denied the petition by the attorneys for Russell J. Thomas. Thomas, 71, who was sentenced to life in prison in 1995, was seeking release based on his advanced age and illness.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Lots of changes and questions to be answered are in store as we begin the 2024 college football season. The first changes began when Southern Cal and UCLA left the PAC-12 and bolted to the Big Ten. Shortly after that Oregon and Washington also made the same move, so for now the Big Ten is an 18-team conference. Not long after that Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah left the PAC-12 for the new 16-team Big 12. Then Stanford and California followed suit by leaving the PAC-12 for the American Atlantic Conference which is now a 17-team league. The PAC-12 now has only two members remaining in Oregon State and Washington State.
