The makeover of one of Cannon Beach's most well-known resorts is complete.<\p> The $12 million renovation of the Surfsand Resort began in November 2023 and included updates to guest suites and the adjacent Wayfarer Restaurant & Lounge, which has operated in Cannon Beach since 1977. <\p>
A Portland media company lands Sports Emmy honors
A Northeast Portland media production company has landed honors for its work on two CBS Sports projects.<\p> Only Today won two Sports Emmy awards at a Lincoln Center ceremony earlier this month. Joyce Tsang and Raymond Tsang of Only Today collected the accolades from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.<\p>
Portland buyer snags NW 23rd Ave. building at 43% off
In another clear signal that a buyer's market has formed around urban commercial sites, Portland's Guardian Real Estate Services picked up the former Williams Sonoma building in Nob Hill at a 43% discount from its 2012 sale price.<\p> Guardian, led by President Tom Brenneke, bought the 2005 building at 320-338 N.W. 23rd Ave. for $7 million in January, down from its most recent sale price of $12.275 million, according to records. CoStar first reported the deal.<\p>
How Reser's plans to amp its potato salad game
One of the Portland area's best-known food manufacturing company has added a new deli specialty company to its fold.<\p> Reser’s Fine Foods Inc. said this week it has bought Memphis-based St. Clair Foods Inc., which makes refrigerated deli salads, frozen side dishes and frozen entrees. The Tennessee company primarily works with the food service industry.<\p>
More workers are staying with their current employer in 2024
Most U.S. employees are now choosing to stay with their jobs instead of looking for new ones, a sharp turnaround from the job reshuffling that was common during the Covid-19 pandemic. <\p> A new survey by global advisory firm WTW found 72% of employees are choosing to stay with their employer — up substantially from the 53% who said the same thing in 2022. Back then, about 25% of workers were open to job offers, compared to just 11% now.<\p>

He was tough as a leader and also heavily involved in the details. At the same time, he was humble, friendly and creative, playing piano in the restaurant and store for any and all to hear.<\p>

OHSU, Legacy Health board chairs and President Jacobs discuss merger
OHSU’s acquisition of Legacy Health took a big step forward Thursday, with the announcement of a binding definitive agreement between the two health systems.<\p> OHSU President Dr. Danny Jacobs, OHSU board Chair Wayne Monfries and Legacy board Chair Charles Wilhoite gave a 15-minute joint interview over Webex to the Business Journal in which they addressed questions about the deal and explained why they believe it makes sense.<\p>
OHSU, Legacy make merger plan official. Here are the details.
OHSU and Legacy Health have signed a binding definitive agreement to join forces under OHSU Health, 10 months after the two first announced plans.<\p> Under terms of the agreement, Legacy will become a wholly owned subsidiary of OHSU. Two exceptions will be the Legacy Health Foundation and Legacy's 50% joint venture interest in the PacificSource health plan. <\p>
