The Pamplin Media Group is looking to fill two full-time reporter positions and is seeking writers with multimedia skills to join its team.

Reporters contribute daily to a variety of news media, including our printed editions, websites and social media posts. They also collaborate on special sections and web-based projects.

The Pamplin Media Group is a local, family-owned media company that includes more than 25 weekly newspapers and websites, including the Portland Tribune, plus several specialty publications and websites. PMG covers suburban communities from Forest Grove to Estacada, along with the cities of Madras and Prineville in Center Oregon. It reaches a combined print and digital audience of more than 1.2 million readers each week.

The ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study, and at least one year of professional reporting experience. Time spent working for student publications or internships will be considered. Candidates will demonstrate excellent time management skills and an ability to write engaging, accurate stories on deadline. Although they also will work with our professional photographers, reporters should be able to shoot photos for their own stories when needed and contribute to video projects and podcasts. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus and could lead to additional opportunities.

Reporters use social media to share their work and engage our audiences across multiple platforms, work well on deadlines, and demonstrate an ability to manage a flexible work schedule that may include evenings and weekends. We are a digital-first operation, and reporters are expected to post daily content independent of weekly publication schedules.

Reporters are valuable members of our newsroom teams whose input contributes to healthy communities in our region. They also develop and practice leadership skills in our newsrooms and communities that can help them achieve their career goals.

Salary range is $17 to $18 per hour depending on experience, including benefits, vacation and sick time, as well as 401(k).

Please email cover letter, résumé, references and at least three samples of published work, including photos and one written news and/or feature story. Send to Dana Haynes, editor in chief, dhaynes@pamplinmedia.com.
