    Live Music: Who to go see and hear in Portland-area outdoor concerts in 2024

    It’s summer outdoor concert season, and free and ticketed concerts abound in Portland Parks and venues from Forest Grove to Ridgefield, Washington to Bend.

    Here are listings for outdoor concerts that you might want to check out:

    Waterfront Blues Festival

    The huge 36th annual festival takes place at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, July 4-7, with the likes of St. Paul & Broken Bones, Diggin Dirt, Jackie Benson on July 4; Lucinda Williams, Margo Price, Say She She, Bombino, Leyla McCalla, Jee McRae, Kirk Fletcher and Lachy Doley on July 5; Ben Harper & Innocent Criminal, Bobby Rush & North Mississippi Allstars, Charlie Hunter with Jubu Smith, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble on July 6; and Greensky Bluegrass, Charlie Hunter, Dustbowl Revival, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Cris Jacobs and The Rumble on July 7.

    If you’re up for a road trip, you won’t be disappointed with the impressive lineup at Hayden Homes Amphitheater in Bend. Check out the lineup at BendConcerts.com .Bridgeport Village in Tualatin hosts its second annual “Live Music on the Village Green” starting June 15 and going through September 1. Concerts are Fridays, 6-8 p.m.; Saturdays, 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.; and Sundays, 1-3 p.m. More: bridgeport-village.com/events .

    At an indoor venue, it’s Portland musician Michael Allen Harrison hosting his annual Ten Grands musical extravaganza at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton, June 28-30. The show features 10 pianists playing grand pianos on stage together, along with individual pieces. The lineup: Amir Avskir, Charlie Martin, Cayla Bleoaja, George Miller, Andrea Johnson, Rhys Philips, Daniel Dickson, William Leonard, Esther Harrison, Sandy Tang, Harrison Lee.     The 15th annual Gresham Music Mondays will bring a wide assortment of acts July 8-Aug. 26, courtesy the Center for the Arts Foundation. The free, family-friendly shows will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Gresham Arts Plaza, 401 N.E. Second St. There are several genres presented. One highlight is Aug. 12 with bluesmen Sonny Hess and Johnny Wheels. More: greshamcenterforthearts.org .

    Harefest, “The Mother of All Tribute Festivals,” will return with an extra day added. This year’s event will run Thursday-Saturday, July 18-20 at the fairgrounds in Canby. The event features camping spots available and three days, three stages, and 27 bands assuming the style and musical tributes to classic bands such as Journey, CCR, Alabama, Styx, Scorpions, and more.     It’s free and fun under the St. Johns Bridge: The Cathedral Park Jazz Festival features local jazz, blues, soul and Latin artists for the 44th year, July 19-21. More: jazzoregon.org .

    An annual concert event and campout, the NorthWest World Reggae Festival will be held July 19-21 near Brightwood, featuring roots reggae bands from eight countries, two stages, craft booths, organic food booths and youth activities. It’s the 20th anniversary festival. It’ll see the return of some of its favorite performers and it’s a showcase of local and regional acts. Notable performers are Prezident Brown, Big Mountain, Nattali Rize, Junior Toots, Aaron Nigel Smith and many more; Liberation Movement will have more than 15 performers from around the world on stage with video, lights and more, mixing reggae with Amazonian influenced sound in their three-hour sets.     Pioneer Courthouse Square celebrates its 40th anniversary with Portland Festival Symphony, 3 Leg Torso and Michael Allen Harrison, and a presentation by Albina Trust Music with gospel, jazz and blues ensembles, 4 p.m. July 20. More: thesquarepdx.com .

    Returning for the first time since 2017 and sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, Project Pabst will take place July 27-28 at Waterfront Park. It’s a great lineup with the likes of Billy Idol, T-Pain, Big Thief and Violent Femmes. There’ll also be local acts such as Gossip, and hip-hop acts Denzel Curry and Kenny Mason. Project Pabst’s lineup was curated to showcase iconic acts alongside modern favorites and rising stars. More: projectpabst.com .

    The Craft Beer and Wine Festival will be held Aug. 9-11 at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, Washington, and it’ll feature Revisiting Creedence, Johnny Wheels & The Swamp Donkeys and Tim Taylor Band (Aug. 9) and Tribute Night including Queen Mother, A Cheaper Trick and Candy-O (Aug. 10).     The Clark County Fair in Ridgefield, Washington includes Billy Currington (Aug. 2), Sublime with Rome (Aug. 3) and Chris Janson (Aug. 4). More: clarkcofair.com .

    The popular indie music festival Pickathon, held at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, will be held Aug. 1-4. Among the standout acts are Courtney Barnett (headliner, Australian indie rock icon), Bonnie “Prince” Billy (headliner, country rock mainstay), Durand Jones (headliner, soul revivalist), Elephant Revival (headliner, folk group), Vacations (headliner, “Australia’s greatest boy band”), Cocorosie, Adi Oasis, Vincent Neil Emerson, Geese, The Soul Rebels, Jess Williamson, Chance Peña, Joanna Sternberg, and many more.     Across the Columbia River, the Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival features plenty of music, Aug. 23-25 at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, Wash. A highlight is Charlie Musselwhite and Brubeck Brothers Quartet performing Aug. 25. More: vancouverwinejazz.com .
