PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It’s not often someone from the Portland area gets to represent our country, but Clackamas rising senior Jazzy Davidson just returned from doing just that.

“It was really amazing,” said Davidson. “I mean, it’s been one of my dreams since I was 10 years old.”

The five-star class of 2025 recruit was a part of Team USA’s FIBA U18 AmeriCup squad, which was a tournament comprised of teams from North, Central, and South America.

It was the forward’s first time wearing the stars and stripes, but it certainly won’t be the last.

Still, Davidson acknowledged, there’s something different about putting on the Team USA uniform for that first-ever game.

“It’s kind of just a surreal experience. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing. For it to actually be happening, it felt like I was dreaming almost,” said Davidson.

Not only did Davidson represent her country though, but she also brought home a gold medal from the event.

“You just feel a lot of pride just being from the USA, and you kind of get emotional a little bit because it’s over,” she said of the moment her team won the tournament championship. “It was a really good experience. I don’t know, it was really special, and especially doing it with all my friends, that was really cool.”

In fact, it wasn’t the wins, but rather the relationships, that was her favorite part of the experience.

“Probably just meeting all the girls and getting closer to girls I was already friends with. Those are just relationships that will last a lifetime, and that’s really cool,” said Davidson.

What’s next in Davidson’s lifetime is where she’s headed to college.

She recently whittled her list of schools down to six: USC, UCLA, Duke, South Carolina, TCU, and Texas, but she’s in no rush to pick the one.

“I’m just planning on taking more officials in the fall and just taking my time. Really making sure I experience all aspects of the schools I’m looking at still. There’s nothing wrong with taking your time. Only good things come out of it,” said Davidson.
