PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland police released new details about an alleged stolen car crash that killed two former area high school students late last month.

On Monday, KOIN 6 News confirmed that Portland Public Schools notified the families of former Ida B. Wells students Dylan Brasky and Jayden Rolon-Ekis, saying they were both killed in the crash that happened on June 25. A third former student survived but was left with serious injuries after the crash. The car was reportedly stolen, law enforcement said.

The Portland Police Bureau is now confirming that PPS’ release of the identities of the students who died in the crash is correct. They also said Rolon-Ekis was the driver and Brasky was the passenger at the time of the crash.

Both Rolon-Ekis and Brasky had recently transferred to Portland Community College. The third injured former student who survived (not yet identified) was a recent Ida B. Wells graduate, school officials said.

The incident occurred around 12:14 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 , at Southeast 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. Portland authorities said Gresham police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the drivers eluded officers and later crashed into a second vehicle and a utility pole — causing a power outage in the area.

Brasky and Rolon-Ekis were found dead at the scene. The third passenger was driven to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.
