Two former Ida B. Wells students were killed and another seriously injured in a June 25 stolen vehicle crash.

Portland Public Schools notified school families that Brasky and Jayden Rolon-Ekis died in the crash. The two were sophomores who had recently transferred to Portland Community College.

The third student was not identified.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, the incident began around 12:14 a.m. on June 25 at Southeast 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street when Gresham police attempted to stop a vehicle. Instead, the vehicle sped off but soon crashed into a second vehicle and a utility pole, causing a power outage in the area.

Portland police responded to the scene to assist. Brasky and Rolon-Ekis were found dead. The third passenger was driven to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Police later learned the vehicle that caused the crash was stolen.
