PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person is dead and an 11-year-old boy is among two missing after a boat with five people on board capsized at the mouth of the Columbia River late Saturday morning.

At around 10:30 a.m., life boat crews from U.S. Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment responded to the area on report of a capsized vessel at the Columbia River Bar.

Officials say witnesses were able to pull two of them from the water and another was soon recovered by responding crews.

Although all three were taken to a hospital, one of them died from their injuries.

After searching for the two other missing people with an air crew from Astoria, the Coast Guard said they have now suspended the search as of Saturday night.
