Seven people were arrested and eight stolen vehicles were recovered in the latest team-up between Portland and Gresham police officers.

On Tuesday, July 9, officers flooded North Portland for a Stolen Vehicle Operation. The results included:

As always, the stolen vehicle mission included many law enforcement agencies working in concert: Portland and Gresham Police; Port of Portland Police Department and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Auto Theft Task Force; Portland’s K9 and Air Support Units; and the community group, PDX Stolen Cars, which has helped police recover 56 stolen vehicles since the collaboration began.

The Vancouver Police Department held its own mission at the same time. Twice vehicles attempted to elude police in Portland and drive recklessly into Vancouver, where those officers were able to apprehend and arrest both drivers.

The missions continue a positive trend in stolen vehicles across East Multnomah County. Compared to the same time period last year, stolen vehicles in 2024 have decreased by 44%. In May 2023 there were 650 cars reported stolen; in May 2024 it was 434.
