Police ID 20-year-old killed at Sellwood Riverfront Park

Portland Police have identified the victim of a shooting at Sellwood Riverfront Park as Asher Ethan HK Mendes, 20, of Sherwood, Oregon.

Mendes was found deceased by police responding to reports of someone shot at the park after 11 p.m. on Friday, July 12.

"The suspect or suspects left the scene before police were called and no immediate arrests were made," the Portland Police Bureau reported. The Medical Examiner determined Mendes died of homicide by gunshot.

"Detectives believe many people were in the area at the time of the shooting and left without speaking to officers," PPB said.

Sellwood Riverfront Park, located near Oaks Park, includes a dog park and docks on the Willamette River.
