PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An 18-year-old died July 8, weeks after being involved in a crash that killed his teenage friends that night.

Cole Johnson suffered critical injuries in the June 25 crash at Southeast 159th Avenue and Division Street. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries, Portland police said Monday.

Johnson was a graduate of Ida B. Wells High School. Former Ida B. Wells students Dylan Brasky and Jayden Rolon-Ekis were also killed in the crash. The two were sophomores who recently transferred to Portland Community College.

The night of the crash, Portland authorities said Gresham police tried to stop the vehicle, but the drivers eluded officers and later crashed into a second vehicle and a utility pole — causing a power outage in the area.

Investigators later learned the car they were in was reported stolen.

The driver of the second car suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
