PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A driver at a 76 gas station in North Portland was caught on camera knocking over a new gas pump and driving away.

The video shows a man putting gas into his car at the North Interstate Avenue 76 gas station before getting inside and backing up into the gas pump knocking it to the ground.

According to store officials, the pump will cost at least $35,000 to replace.

The incident comes just weeks after the station re-opened following two months of extensive renovations.

Erica Wright, the co-owner of the gas station, told KOIN 6 that the situation is disappointing.

“We made improvements to the station for our customers, for this community and we’re so excited to be open, but then this happens,” said Wright. “It really just feels like a gut punch.”

The gas station is asking anyone with information to contact Portland police.
