PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Pacific Power says an outage in the Portland area has left thousands of customers without power on Sunday.

Pacific Power initially said on X , formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday morning that more than 35,000 customers were without power; however, as of 12:30 p.m., just over 3,500 customers remained without power, according to the Pacific Power outage map .

This is the second time in two months Pacific Power customers have been affected by a major outage. Back in May , a beaver chewing through a tree that made contact with a transmission line left more than 33,000 people without power.

Pacific Power said the cause of the current outage is under investigation and the estimated time of restoration is 4:30 p.m.
