Portland’s extreme heat wave ends after three weeks, NWS confirms

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – Sick of the heat? Well, you have a good reason, because the National Weather Service just revealed Portland’s latest heat wave lasted for nearly three weeks.

Sunday, July 21 marked the first day that Portland reached a “below average max temperature for the date” since July 2, according to NWS Portland . That means temperatures were above average for this time of year for at least 18 days in a row.

Temperatures are expected to remain below average on Monday and Thursday, but average summer heat will remain for the rest of the week.

For this upcoming workweek, afternoon highs in the valley are expected to hover around the low- to mid-80s . Portland is also expected to see a drop overnight lows as well with temps hanging out in the mid-50s for the week.

Monday and Tuesday look to be the cloudiest days over the next seven, according to KOIN 6 Meteorologist Jamie Hudson .
