According to an article from Portland Eater , Bar Asha will undergo another revamp after a temporary closure at 28 NE 28th Avenue.

A representative of Bar Asha was not immediately available to comment upon What Now Portland’s request.

According to the article, “Less than a month after vegan Indian mainstay the Sudra flipped into Bar Asha, it has closed again. The closure was announced in a since-deleted Instagram post that said the bar would rework its menu and concept before reopening.”

“Owner Sanjay Chandrasekaran confirmed the temporary closure to Eater via email and said he aims to reopen in August. For the next version of Bar Asha, Chandrasekaran will work with Deepak Saxena (Desi PDX, Chaat Wallah, and Masala Lab) and Ben Preacher (Wilder and the Garrison) on new cocktail and food offerings focused on combining the flavors of India with Pacific Northwest seasonality.”

“On July 23, Chandrasekaran took to Instagram again to announce the partnership and Bar Asha’s relaunch. He also shared that for the first time, Bar Asha will not be serving exclusively vegan dishes — meat will be on the menu.”

“In 2021, the Sudra opened its third location in the Pearl in the former Aviv space, before closing in 2022. By 2023, Chandrasekaran had expanded the Sudra beyond just Portland, with a location in Beaverton.”
