Man dies after being hit by train in Northwest Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A man has died after being hit by a train Thursday evening, Portland police announced Thursday night.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers responded just after 6 p.m. on reports of a pedestrian who was struck by a train near Northwest Sherlock Avenue and Northwest Nicolai Street. When police arrived, they found a man dead at the scene.

PPB’s Major Crash Team is responding. Officials said the immediate area around Northwest Nicolai Street will be closed during the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact police.
