PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The first night of a planned street takeover mission by Portland police resulted in the arrest of a speeding motorcyclist who tried to flee from officers.

Just before 11 p.m. Friday, officials say a speeding motorcyclist eluded officers attempting to stop him near Northeast Airport Way and Northeast 148th Avenue.

When the motorcyclist ran on foot into a house in the 700 block of Northeast 160th Avenue, officers surrounded the house and tried to get him to surrender.

When he refused to come out of the home, a warrant granted officers permission to enter the house. The man then climbed on the roof to escape, but was unable to get away and surrendered to police almost 4 hours after the original traffic stop.
