Greetings! Welcome to another Friday and to another dispatch from your Coast Star Connection. Hope you are doing well, following last weekend's ice storm and its aftermath of outages and blocked roads.

Even though electricity has been restored and the ice and snow have pretty much melted, there are still many topics to discuss. Quite a news week, filled with surprising developments within the local real estate scene . . .

Remember that $9M home sale three months ago?

Three months ago, the Grey Gull Cottage at 83 Turbats Creek shocked the local real estate scene when it sold for $9 million – a record in York County. Now, three months later, the home overlooking the Vaughn Island Preserve no longer exists . . .

Wedding Cake House goes on the market

After attempting to transform the Wedding Cake House into an inn and events venue, the owners of the historic home have put it on the market. Pack Maynard & Associates, of Kennebunkport, is listing the property at 104 Summer Street at $2.65 million.

    Before Labor Day, or after?

RSU 21 Superintendent Terri Cooper is exploring other options for when to start the upcoming school year after local business leaders, parents and others pushed back against the district’s current proposal to start classes before Labor Day.

    Housing on Hold?

Members of the Wells Select Board voted unanimously on March 19 to have the town attorney draft a retroactive moratorium that would halt large-scale residential developments in the community for 180 days. The board’s collective “aye” was louder than usual in this case due to an unusual reason: members of the public in the audience also chimed in with supportive and enthusiastic “ayes” of their own.

Best-selling author to visit Sanford schools

Neal Shusterman, the author of such young adult works as “Unwind,” “Courage to Dream,” and “The Arc of the Scythe” series, will visit Sanford Middle School and Sanford High School on Thursday, April 4. At each school, he will speak for an hour and sign copies of his books for students.
