    Vote now for Seacoast high school boys and girls Athletes of the Week for May 13-18

    Welcome to the sixth installment of the Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week for the 2024 spring sports season, presented by York County Community College.

    This week, and in weeks to come, you can vote for a girls athlete of the week and a boys athlete of the week.

    This week's poll is for outstanding athletic accomplishments during the week of May 13-18.

    How do I cast my vote?

    Voting can be completed through the two ballots listed below. Voting closes midnight Thursday, May 23.

    How do we learn who wins?

    Winners will be announced in a story published Friday, May 24 at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports .

    May I nominate for future ballots?

    Yes. Nominate a Seacoast high school athlete by sending an email to sports@seacoastonline.com. Feel free to send us a photo of the athlete, too.

    Here are this week's nominees and polls:

    BOYS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

    John Schlieder, Newmarket, baseball

    Schlieder, a junior, threw a no-hitter and struck out 17 batters in Newmarket's 4-0 win over Pittsfield last Monday in a Division IV contest. He also had a single, RBI and two runs in a 13-0 win over Farmington.

    Tim Kelm, Portsmouth Christian Academy, track

    Kelm, in two meets last week, broke school records in the 100-meter run (10.94 seconds) and the 200 (22.79), as he is ranked third going into Division III state championships. Kelm also won both events in Friday's Seacoast Championship this past Friday at Exeter High School.

    Oliver Berardino, Exeter, tennis

    Berardino won a No. 1 singles match (8-5), and teamed with Ewan Simard to win at No. 1 doubles 8-0 in Exeter's 8-1 win over Pinkerton last Tuesday.

    Oliver Duffy, Winnacunnet, track

    Duffy won the 110-meter hurdles (15.04 seconds), the 300-meter hurdles (23.38) and the long jump (21 feet, 06 inches) to lead the Warriors to a first place finish in Friday's Seacoast championship.

    Ben Brown, York, baseball

    Brown blasted a walk-off grand slam to give York a 10-8 Class B South win over Falmouth last Monday.

    GIRLS OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

    Maddie Fitzgerald, York, softball

    Fitzgerald hit for the cycle — single, double, triple and home run — in Wednesday's 13-3 win over Gray-New Gloucester. She hit a grand slam and another two-run home run in York's 17-0 win over Cape Elizabeth on Friday.

    Megan Leahy, St. Thomas Aquinas, lacrosse

    Leahy scored eight goals to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a 16-9 Division III win over Derryfield last Monday, and scored seven goals in a 20-5 win over Laconia on Wednesday in a D III game.

    Rylen Gray, Dover, lacrosse

    Gray scored six goals and had one assist to lead Dover to a 17-7 Division I win over Nashua North on Friday.

    Rayna Thompson, Exeter, track

    Thompson was first in the 400 (58.84) and was second in the 200 (26.27), leading Exeter to a third-place finish in Friday's Seacoast Championship.

    Rachel Baughman, Spaulding, lacrosse

    Baughman scored six goals in the Red Raiders' D II loss to Pembroke last Thursday.
