    Portsmouth ‘Back to School’ Breakfast

    PORTSMOUTH — The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth will host a Back-to-School Breakfast Forum from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Atlantic Grill in Rye. Zach McLaughlin, superintendent of Schools at Portsmouth School Department, Courtney Ritchings, director of Career Technical Education and Stephen Chinosi, principal of Portsmouth High School, will be the speakers.     Discover the real-life settings for Stephen King’s novels

    DOVER — Explore the real-life places that inspired many of the settings in Stephen King’s novels in “Stephen King’s Maine: Maine Destinations for Stephen King Fans” on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The Dover Public Library, in partnership with Tewksbury Public Library, is hosting the 7 p.m. virtual event. Those interested in attending will need to register through the library’s website at library.dover.nh.gov.

    Craft Dorset buttons at Dover Public Library

    DOVER — Join the Dover Public Library on Friday, Aug. 23, at 10:30 a.m. for a hands-on workshop on making Dorset buttons. This program is perfect for older teens and adults, with no prior experience needed. Participants will leave with at least one finished button and the skills to create more.     Wounded Warriors to hit the surf at Hampton's North Beach

    HAMPTON — The Wounded Warrior Project, NE Disabled Sport, and the Manchester VA will return to North Beach for the annual Hit the Beach event on Friday, Aug. 23. The Wounded Warriors are veterans wounded in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, and other conflicts around the globe. Hit The Beach introduces injured veterans, along with their spouses and children, to surfing. Four local surf shops (Cinnamon Rainbows, Pioneers, Zapstix, and Summer Sessions) provide the equipment, including surfboards, wetsuits, and instructors. The location is 18th Street, and surfing will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    Family Dance Party at Dover Public Library

    DOVER —Join Jenna from The Suite Studio for a fun family dance session at the Dover Public Library on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. Families are welcome to dance together, with options to wear or hold babies, or let them nap in their seats. Kids who can walk or have their own dance moves can join in the fun. All ages are welcome!
