    3 hurt, DUI charged in Portsmouth I-95 on-ramp crash

    PORTSMOUTH — A Holden, Maine, man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and reckless operation after a single-vehicle crash on the Interstate 95 Exit 3 on-ramp early Monday, according to New Hampshire State Police .

    The 40-year-old man lost control of a 2005 Honda Accord on a curve and exited the road, striking a tree in a wooded area, according to police. The accident was reported about 1:53 a.m.

    The driver and two passengers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

    The driver was released on personal recognizance bail and scheduled to appear Sept. 11 in Portsmouth District Court.

    The Exit 3 on-ramp was closed to traffic for approximately two hours, police said. State police said they were assisted by the Portsmouth Police Department, the Portsmouth Fire Department and National Wrecker Service.
