SEABROOK — Police say a local man died following a crash Saturday in which his motor scooter crashed in the area of the railroad bridge on Walton Road.

Alwin Eaton, 57, of Seabrook, was riding his scooter at approximately 4:30 p.m. when two off-highway recreational vehicles entered the roadway, causing Eaton to lose control and crash, according to Seabrook police.

Investigators determined Eaton was traveling east on Walton Road when the off-road vehicles appeared, according to police. The operators of those vehicles are suspected to have caused the accident.

Police said they have identified the operators of the off-road vehicles, and the case is still under investigation.

Seabrook Police Chief Brett Walker said off-highway recreational vehicles, or OHRVs, “have to be familiar with laws related to their operation in this state. Operators have to be aware of where they are legally allowed to operate their vehicles, and must operate their vehicles safely for themselves and other motorists.”

Seabrook Fire Department and New Hampshire State Police assisted Seabrook police with the investigation. Police ask anyone with information to contact Sgt. Dev Atma Khalsa or Detective Tom Butcher at the Seabrook Police Department at 603-474-5200.

Anyone wishing to provide information on illegal activities can report the information to the Seabrook Police Department at 603-474-5200 or through the Crimeline for the Hamptons at hamptonpd.com/crime/crimeline.htm .
