Hood has issued a recall of some Lactaid milk products that were sold in Maine.

The company announced last week that it was issuing a voluntary recall for some of its Lactaid products that were sold earlier this month because they may contain traces of almond.

Hood's Lactaid products are non-dairy milk options that are easier to digest for people with lactose sensitivities.

The recall affects 27 states, including Connecticut and Maine in New England.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration said no illnesses have been reported so far.

    Here's what to know.

Why did Hood recall Lactaid milk?

Hood recalled a portion of its Lactaid milk products because they may contain trace amounts of almond, the company said.

The almond traces are not listed on the product labels, so people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds could have an allergic reaction if they consume the products. There have been no reported illnesses to date, the FDA said.

The FDA said the issue was discovered during routine maintenance.

What to do if you purchased recalled Lactaid milk

Anyone who purchased a recalled Lactaid milk product can return it to the retail location where it was purchased for an exchange or refund.

It's not non-dairy. Whomever or whatever AI wrote it should know that it is cow milk. It has an added enzym to make it digestible.
