    Portsmouth begins enforcement of red light cameras

    PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Red light cameras in Portsmouth area beginning citations starting Monday.

    So far, three red light cameras are in operation, with six others planned to be installed in “phases.”

    Currently, the intersections with the photo red light enforcement are at Twin Pines and Towne Point, Fredrick and Turnpike and Victory and Greenwood.

    $50 citations will only be issued when a vehicle does not stop and travels through a red light traffic signal. No points will be assessed for the violation and it won’t appear on the driving record.

    There has been no word yet on when the other cameras will be installed. 10 On Your Side has reached out for more information.
