JULIAETTA - Firefighters are battling a new lightning-caused fire in Nez Perce County, located about 5 miles southwest of Juliaetta and just south of the Latah County line. The fire was sparked at around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. According to Nez Perce Tribe Fire Management Officer Fire Jeff Handel, at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, the fire size was estimated at about 800 acres in size and no level of containment had been achieved.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Deputies intervened in a violent assault, resulting in one suspect being booked for DUI and another for assault and obstruction.
