One injured in Pott County accident
A Griswold resident was said to be injured in an accident west of Griswold in Pottawattamie County on Sunday evening, according to reports. Jody Rossell, a passenger in a 2020 Kia, driven by Daniel Paul Rossell, was injured after Daniel was crossing the Nishnabotna Bridge on Highway 92 at approximately 8:55 p.m. and came upon a tree branch in the road due to a passing storm. Daniel swerved to avoid the branch, lost control, entered the south embankment, vaulted a driveway in the yard of 53823 Highway 92, and rolled, coming to rest in the yard. Jody was taken by private vehicle to Nebraska Medicine for treatment of injuries. No citations were given.
New regional director named for Iowa Western Small Business Development Center
Elizabeth Christensen was recently named the regional director of the Small Business Development Center at Iowa Western Community College. America's SBDC Iowa named Christensen to the role in Council Bluffs in early June, according to a news release. The center serves entrepreneurs and small business owners in Pottawattamie, Shelby, Harrison, Page, Mills, Cass and Fremont counties.

DNR to hold meeting on deer hunting restriction in Council Bluffs
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hear feedback Wednesday in Council Bluffs on a proposal to severely restrict the hunting of female deer in southwest Iowa. The DNR is seeking to implement the regulation in Pottawattamie, Fremont, Harrision, Mills, Monona and Shelby counties to increase the deer population in the region.
FEMA disaster recovery center opening in Pottawattamie County
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - A FEMA disaster recovery center is opening in Pottawattamie County from July 8th to July 13th. Funding is available for local homeowners and renters affected by the April 26-27 tornadoes and storms. FEMA has set up these centers to provide one-to-one help completing disaster aid applications or check on status of those already filed.
Sunday Evening Storm Produces High Winds and Hail to Portions of SW Iowa
(Area) High wind gusts, hail, and a funnel cloud were reported as a storm system swept through southwest Iowa on Sunday evening. The initial warning came out at 6:20 p.m. in western Pottawattamie County. One and three-quarter-inch hail was reported at 6:20 p.m. in Crescent. At 6:50 p.m., Emergency Management reported a funnel cloud one mile northwest of Shelby.

Red Oak man arrested for escape from custody
(Red Oak) – A Red Oak man is in custody on charges out of Pottawattamie County. The Red Oak Police Department says officers arrested 56-year-old Richard James Linfor around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of East Market Street. Linfor was arrested on a Pottawattamie County warrant for escape from custody.
