Pott. County prepares for Missouri River flooding & evacuations
(Council Bluffs, Iowa) – Emergency Management and other officials in Pottawattamie County, Monday evening, said they anticipate river flooding to levels equal to or exceeding the 2019 flood event. However, flood waters are not anticipated to linger for an extended period of time. Crest is currently forecast for 35.1′ and is anticipated to recede below flood stage on or about July 4th.

(Council Bluffs) -- Local groups are calling on the city of Council Bluffs and Union Pacific to address concerns over blocked rail crossings. In the latest of a series of town halls, Concerned Citizens of Pottawattamie County and United Today, Stronger Tomorrow have invited Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh and representatives from Union Pacific Railroad to hear from citizens and discuss solutions for blocked rail crossings that the groups say pose safety and quality of life concerns. Dave Bushaw is the organizer for United Today, Stronger Tomorrow. Bushaw tells KMA News that while they acknowledge that Council Bluffs has been a strong railroad community, they want to see the entities come together to address what has been labeled the "triangle of death" in one of the oldest parts of town.

(Council Bluffs) Narrows River Park in Council Bluffs is closed until further notice due to flooding of the Missouri River. Pottawattamie County Conservation says Narrows River Park is expected to be impacted by flooding of the Missouri River this week due to multiple days of heavy rain upstream. For visitor safety, the park will remain closed until further notice.
Reynolds issues preemptive disaster proclamation for flooding
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation Monday for Pottawattamie, Harrison, Mills, Monona and Fremont counties in response to impending flooding. The proclamation frees up state resources to prepare for, respond to and recover from flooding that is expected as water travels downstream from northwest Iowa, which was inundated by heavy rain over the weekend.
