Harrison Valley, Pa. — Two New York men were arrested after trail cameras caught them stealing from a house in Potter County, police say.

Timothy F. Decker, 38, and Camdin R. Comfort, 24, reportedly stole 540 baseball cards, baseball bats, gas cans, and a trail camera from a home in the 6000 block of North Fork Road on June 30.

The homeowner was the victim of a previous burglary and had installed a trail camera at the property, according to Trp. Chip Scheller of state police at Coudersport. The camera was actively transmitting images from the area when the two men arrived, Scheller said.

Those images were sent immediately to state police, who conducted a patrol in the area. In the pictures, police allegedly saw a black and white motorcycle, along with dark-colored pickup truck with severe rust damage on the rear quarter panels. The trail camera also took several clear images of the men before they ripped it down and stole it, Scheller said.

While driving in the area, troopers spot the motorcyclist, identified as Decker, traveling along Whites Corners Road and stopped it. Decker admitted being at the North Fork Road property, but claimed it was his sister's home. Property records show the home belongs to the victim, who is not Decker's sister.

Decker told police the driver of the truck, identified as Comfort, was still in the area. Troopers pulled him over a short time later and reportedly found the stolen items in the truck.

Decker and Comfort, Woodhull, NY, were each charged burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and several driving offenses. Comfort was also charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
