The founder of California's Bravus Brewing Co., which claims to be North America's original non-alcoholic craft brewery, has launched a dedicated zero-proof spirits brand alongside an inaugural agave release. On Tuesday, Philip Brandes rolled out La Planta Reposado Tequila Alternative, a nonalcoholic beverage produced using many of the same techniques perfected at Bravus in its range of IPAs, porters and blonde ales. Power restored at overcrowded California prison after outage amid heat wave
VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Power was restored Tuesday at an overcrowded California men’s prison that ran on emergency generator power for three days following a major electrical outage amid a heat wave. The problem was fixed shortly after 2 p.m. at California State Prison, Solano, according to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The electricity had been out since Sunday at the facility in Vacaville, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) southwest of Sacramento. Temperatures in the city topped 96 degrees (35.5 Celsius) on Sunday and the weather remained hot into the week. Running water, ice and cooling fans were made available “to help manage heat-related concerns,” the corrections department said in a statement Monday.

Heat Advisory Issued for San Francisco Bay Area Amid Soaring Temperatures
San Franciscans are bracing themselves for a significant temperature surge as the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory, starting today at 10 AM and lasting until 11 PM tomorrow. Residents in the highlighted regions, including interior Monterey and San Benito counties, North Bay Interior Mountains, East Bay Interior Valleys and Hills, and the Santa Clara Valley, can expect temperatures stretching into the 90s and low 100s. Some areas may see the mercury push to around 110 by Friday afternoon, particularly those elevated spots in southern Monterey and San Benito counties, according to the National Weather Service.
