Oakland opens 100% affordable housing complex
Officials in Oakland on Tuesday celebrated the opening of a 100% affordable housing project designed for low-income and formerly incarcerated residents. The apartment complex at 1670 Seventh St., called The Black Panther, will house ground-floor businesses, with the upper levels consisting of homes with views of San Francisco Bay and the Oakland hills. It's only three blocks from the nearest BART station.

San Francisco – Stanford Health Care Patient Testing Technician Qiqiuia Young filed a 100-page lawsuit against Stanford University and Stanford Health Care alleging a series of acts of racial harassment and discrimination that began with her co-workers threatening to, and then dressing as the Ku Klux Klan at the Stanford Cancer Center and detailing multiple instances of the “n” word used in the workplace at Stanford Health Care.

Members of the Western Baptist State Convention of California will hold their 134th Annual Session starting Saturday, August 3, and continuing through Thursday, August 8. According to WBSC President J. Benjamin Hardwick, the session will take place in the Southwest District Association at Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church in San Diego. The Rev. SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:. Melany Acosta-Parra, of Kerman, has been appointed to the California Youth Empowerment Commission. Acosta-Parra has been a Recreation Leader for the City of Kerman Parks and Recreation Department since 2021. She served on the Kerman Youth Commission from 2021 to 2024. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Acosta-Parra is a Democrat.
