MCSO: Point Arena man admits to shooting; victim identified
A Point Arena man was arrested on suspicion of homicide after allegedly calling authorities to report shooting another man, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the MCSO, deputies responded to the 38500 block of Eureka Hill Road on July 11 when a man identified as Pan Jasper Brady, 47, of Point Arena, called “911 to report that he had just shot a person.”

Western Baptist State Convention Plans 134th Annual Session
Members of the Western Baptist State Convention of California will hold their 134th Annual Session starting Saturday, August 3, and continuing through Thursday, August 8. According to WBSC President J. Benjamin Hardwick, the session will take place in the Southwest District Association at Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church in San Diego. The Rev. Joe Conner is the host moderator and the Rev. Donnell Townsend is the host pastor.

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:. Melany Acosta-Parra, of Kerman, has been appointed to the California Youth Empowerment Commission. Acosta-Parra has been a Recreation Leader for the City of Kerman Parks and Recreation Department since 2021. She served on the Kerman Youth Commission from 2021 to 2024. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Acosta-Parra is a Democrat.
